How many times have you heard a legacy company tell you that they have AI and it will change the world? In all my discussions, every product in the market is now professing to have AI and it will change your life!
Unfortunately, AI by itself does very little. It needs your experience and learns just like a child learns how to read and write. Now, the reason why a child learns so quickly is that they are wired to learn “from the ground up”. That’s the KEY. Is your AI platform built “from the ground up” around AI or is it just an add-in?
Having a product that is built around AI means that everything about the platform is created to teach and nurture the AI. For instance, if you had a CRM that was built around AI, everything you do would be an experience for the AI. On the other hand, if you have a CRM platform that added AI later, then you have to “force feed” the AI and hope that it learns what you are doing.
Hope is not a strategy(I know…so trite :)), especially in today’s market!
According to Gartner and a slew of other analysts, the average tenure of a CRO has gone down from 26 months to 7! That is a 73% reduction in time. We need to be more agile and surround ourselves with people and systems that will help us get to our number. We no longer have time to “test” things out and hope that it works. We no longer have time to WAIT for an AI to learn our business.
We need insights NOW and we can’t wait.
Net-net, be ready to roll up your sleeves and make sure that you have the platforms in place that give you results and insights from day 1 because you have 73% less time to show value ;).
